ABSTRACT
Following upon an earlier presentation on Cochrane’s Road to Agenda 2030 as a consequence of its participation in the Calgary Metropolitan Region Board (CMRB), on January 18, 2024 a slightly revised presentation, “The Calgary Region’s Road to Agenda 2030”, intended for a broader audience, was presented at an event in Cochrane. Slides and text for the presentation are available at the full blog post.

Dog With A Bone was launched three years ago on January 11, 2021, when I made a presentation as a delegation to Cochrane’s Town Council objecting to the town’s participation in and support for the Calgary Metropolitan Region Board (CMRB).
In January 2023, I subsequently drew attention to the implications of Cochrane being a part of the CMRB in a blog post entitled Cochrane’s Road to Agenda 2030. That information formed the basis for a presentation with the same title on Friday, March 24th, 2023 at a Cochrane Freedom Alliance event, an initiative led by Cochrane’s Tex (Lloyd) Leugner. The thesis of my presentation that evening was that the Town of Cochrane’s willing participation in the Calgary Metropolitan Region Board (CMRB), a centralized regional planning initiative brought in by the previous NDP government in 2018, puts Cochrane on a road to Agenda 2030 and the UN’s sustainable development goals. The City of Calgary, a strong adherent of Agenda 2030, with its dominant role and veto position in the CMRB, was described as essentially driving the bus and our Town’s municipal government, both elected and unelected officials, were described as willing and supportive passengers on this journey.
On January 18, 2024 a slightly revised presentation, “The Calgary Region’s Road to Agenda 2030”, intended for a broader audience, was presented at a Alberta United-Cochrane Chapter event.
